Many of the clients that I see on a weekly basis have tried a variety of diets and weight loss programs that rely on specially prepared foods, injections or starving themselves to achieve weight loss. My clients report that these programs provided weight loss, but only temporarily. After a short period of time, they would put the weight back on and be back where they started or in many cases even heavier.
There are several reasons for this. Reason number one is the if you severely cut back on your calorie intake, your body’s natural response is to begin to store energy and slow your metabolism. Sure you begin to lose weight because your starving yourself, but as soon as you begin eating again (after the program ends) your body is still in a slow metabolic and energy storage mode. This means that you gain weight back faster and sometimes more excessively before things normalize again.
The number two reason that so few people have long term success with these programs is that they haven’t changed anything within themselves or the way they think about food. Essentially the responsibility for achieving the results has been put on the “weight loss program” rather than themselves. For long term weight loss we need to change the way we think about food. Begin to be thin teaches you how to use your brain more effectively to provide you with more options and choices. I works in synergy with the way your brain works, stores and processes information.
Think about it, we only have our 5 senses to make sense of our world. We see, hear, feel, smell and taste things. Every experience we have is made up of these “modalities”. So the question becomes, what do you think of when you see a piece of cake? What do you hear (or say to yourself) and how does seeing that piece of cake make you feel? All of these feelings that come up when you see “cake” are learned. They are based on past experiences with cake!
With the Begin to be Thin program, show you how to change your response so that you have more choices and control! How would it feel if you saw cake and it immediately made you think of how wonderful it will be to have more energy, be fit and vibrant? It’s a very different response that allows you to take back your power and manage your weight forever. Once you learn these tools they are yours for the rest of your life and can not only be applied to food, but to any personal goals you choose to pursue!

It’s one thing to decide that it’s time to lose weight, but another to change behaviours that have been created over a long period of time. So much of what we do day to day takes place automatically without having to pay much conscious attention to our activities. We can drive from one place to another while listening to the radio or thinking about other things and then arrive at our destination without being able to recall exactly what route we took or what we saw along the way. For many people the same phenomenon occurs when they eat and watch TV. It’s amazing how a whole back of chips or popcorn can disappear without us being able to even recall eating that much.
There is no question that breaking habits and patterns takes effort and to win the battle, you’ve got to get your unconscious mind working with you instead of against you. Hypnosis and NLP techniques provide powerful tools for changing unconscious behaviours and aligning your unconscious with the weight loss goals you want to achieve. Through “Train your Brain” exercises we can help you empower yourself to be able to make new choices and create new behaviours that serve you in more positive ways and support your desire to become more healthy, vibrant and energized.
