It’s one thing to decide that it’s time to lose weight, but another to change behaviours that have been created over a long period of time.  So much of what we do day to day takes place automatically without having to pay much conscious attention to our activities.  We can drive from one place to another while listening to the radio or thinking about other things and then arrive at our destination without being able to recall exactly what route we took or what we saw along the way.  For many people the same phenomenon occurs when they eat and watch TV.  It’s amazing how a whole back of chips or popcorn can disappear without us being able to even recall eating that much.
