			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Would you like to know one of the most powerful tools you have available to you to lose weight?</p>
<p>The answer is your imagination!  As human beings we have the ability to imagine things in the future, to visualize how this will be in our lives and it&#8217;s not limited to images or visualizations, we have the ability to use our imagination for all our senses, the things we see, hear, feel, smell and taste!   You can imagine going to a Tropical Destination, you can imagine achieving a goal and unfortunately you can also imagine how chips, cakes, ice cream and other foods will taste before you ever eat them.</p>
<p>We usually don&#8217;t sit down and say to ourselves, &#8220;I think i&#8217;ll imagine what a piece of Chocolate Cake will taste like&#8221;, no it&#8217;s a bit more subtle than that, you see our imagination is also running on autopilot all the time too.  It&#8217;s one of the tools we use to make decisions, for example if you are trying to decide if you need to go to the bank, you will rapidly and mostly unconsciously run through a variety of scenarios that helps you decide if you need to go to the bank now&#8230; you might make pictures of getting a late notice for a bill, or hearing what your spouse will say that evening if you didn&#8217;t go to the bank etc&#8230;. when it comes to food and deciding whether or not to eat something, you go through a similar process but it&#8217;s usually more unconscious and very fast&#8230; it may go something like this&#8230;.</p>
<p>You see a piece of Chocolate Cake, you immediately imagine what the cake will taste like, how it will feel in your mouth and the pleasure it will give you.  This process then comes to your conscious awareness as a CRAVING.  Then you may go through a second process of justifying why you should eat it&#8230; you imagine that you&#8217;ll go for walk later, you say to yourself you&#8217;ve been eating really well lately or just one piece won&#8217;t hurt&#8230;etc&#8230; then you probably eat the cake.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the good news. Once you become aware of the process, you have the ability to change or interrupt it!  The next time you see something and start imagining how it will taste and feel in your mouth, change the taste to something you don&#8217;t like or imagine the texture in your mouth is like grains of sand instead of smooth and silk, imagine the piece of cake is green instead of brown or imagine that when you cut into the cake with your fork a dead fly is in the cake&#8230; hmmm how appetizing is that?  Would that put you off eating the cake&#8230;. good, then you have used your imagination more effectively to interrupt the craving pattern and take more control!</p>
<p>Play with using you imagination to eliminate food cravings and you&#8217;ll be surprised at just how much power you have to direct your imagination in a more positive way.</p>

<p>I&#8217;d like to take credit for this, but it was my wife that started this one by writing BT2 in our appointment book because she needed to keep track of why clients were coming in because in our Studio we provide other services as well.  So BT2 was born and now it play a nice role in shortening our Twitter entries.</p>
<p>So whenever you see BT2 you&#8217;ll know it means Begin To Be Thin.</p>

<p>There are several reasons for this.  <strong>Reason number one</strong> is the if you severely cut back on your calorie intake, your body&#8217;s natural response is to begin to store energy and slow your metabolism.  Sure you begin to lose weight because your starving yourself, but as soon as you begin eating again (after the program ends) your body is still in a slow metabolic and energy storage mode.  This means that you gain weight back faster and sometimes more excessively before things normalize again.</p>
<p>The <strong>number two reason</strong> that so few people have long term success with these programs is that they haven&#8217;t changed anything within themselves or the way they think about food.  Essentially the responsibility for achieving the results has been put on the &#8220;weight loss program&#8221; rather than themselves.  For long term weight loss we need to change the way we think about food.  Begin to be thin teaches you how to use your brain more effectively to provide you with more options and choices.  I works in synergy with the way your brain works, stores and processes information.</p>
<p>Think about it, <strong>we only have our 5 senses to make sense of our world</strong>.  We see, hear, feel, smell and taste things.  Every experience we have is made up of these &#8220;modalities&#8221;.  So the question becomes, what do you think of when you see a piece of cake? What do you hear (or say to yourself) and how does seeing that piece of cake make you feel?   All of these feelings that come up when you see &#8220;cake&#8221; are learned.  They are based on past experiences with cake!</p>

Now we are fatter than ever, riddled with degenerative disease and dying at an earlier age than our parents did. What are we doing wrong?</p>
<p>A recent study from the United Kingdom reports that the lower the number of hours you sleep, the higher the likelihood you will put on extra weight. These findings apply to all age groups including children. The research team reviewed the findings from 696 studies on the effects of sleep time on weight gain. They found a solid relationship between hours of sleep and risk of obesity. All the studies of adults as well as children showed a significant and consistent negative association between Body Mass Index and hours of sleep.</p>
<p>Another study reports that sleeping too little is linked to increased risk of stroke. While the researchers point out that their findings can be applied only to the postmenopausal women in the study, other experts are saying that the same relationship between sleep and stroke risk is universal.</p>
<p>Is it possible that the risk of obesity is not only controlled by what we eat but also how we sleep? T. S. Wiley warned us about this connection back in the year 2000 in her groundbreaking book Lights Out. A number of other studies have documented the adverse effects of sleep deprivation and its heightened risk of obesity and death, but it doesn&#8217;t seem like we want to listen.
